There are 2 possible departure points :
-From Villar d’Arène. Leave the RD1091 above La Grave, then from Villar take the direction ‘Pied du Col’ followed by ‘Auberge du Pas de l’Ane’, where you park your car.
-From La Bérarde. Leave the RD1091 above Bourg d’Oisans, take the exit on the right towards La Bérarde (30km) and park outside the village.
Here is the complete list of stages between the refuges, allow between 3 and 6 days for 4450m total vertical ascent. It is possible to combine stages depending on your level of fitness and the weather.
Day 1 : Villar d’Arène (le Pas de l’Ane) - > Refuge de l’Alpe or Refuge de Chamoissière, 400m+ Day 2 : Refuge de l’Alpe / Chamoissière - > Refuge Planchard, 1200m+
Day 3 : Refuge Planchard - > Refuge du Chatelleret via la Pointe Brevoort (3765m), 700m+
Day 4 : Refuge du Chatelleret - > Refuge du Promontoire, 900m+
Day 5 : Refuge du Promontoire - > Refuge de l’Aigle, 800m+
Day 6 : Refuge de l’Aigle - > Villar d’Arène via the Meije Orientale (3891m), 450m+
